In 2008, the District’s Board of Commissioners authorized the following 7 contracts and/or programs:

  1. Responsible Hospitality Institute, Inc. (RHI): The Board approved the expenditure of $3,500.00 to RHI to prepare a Nighttime Economy Hospitality Zone Assessment of the French Quarter and Marigny Triangle that focused on Bourbon Street and Frenchman Street and was developed through a series of stakeholder meetings, a leadership summit and five roundtable sessions on Safety, Hospitality, Music, Community and Development. Review the final report.
  2. Downtown Development District (DDD): The Board approved the expenditure of $20,000.00 to the DDD to expand the boundaries of a Parking and Mobility Study the DDD was undertaking to include the properties in the portion of the Marigny Triangle that are within the District’s boundaries so that all of the District would be included in the Study.
  3. Downtown Development District (DDD): The Board approved the expenditure of $20,000.00 to the DDD to create and provide a Pilot Public Safety Ranger Program for the District between August 2008 and December 31, 2008, in order to monitor and intervene in situations before the need for a police response.
  4. Entercom New Orleans, LLC: The Board approved the expenditure of $5,750.00 to Entercom to provide an hour a week of programming on WWL 1350’s Tom Fitzmorris Show for 6 weeks in the summer of 2008, to focus on the District’s restaurants, businesses, culture and events in order to generate tourism and commercial activity during the area’s historically slow tourism season.
  5. New Orleans Musical Legends, Inc. (NOML): The Board approved the expenditure of $5,750.00 to NOML to be one of the co-sponsors of the 3 day Louisiana Seafood Festival held at the Old U.S. Mint on June 13, 14 and 15, 2008.
  6. Compucast Web Design, Inc.: The Board approved the expenditure of $5,000.00 to Compucast for the creation and design of this website.
  7. Downtown Development District (DDD): The Board approved the expenditure of $4,000.00 to the DDD to supplement the Pilot Public Safety Ranger Program in order to provide additional hours and days of patrolling and extend patrolling through January 4, 2009.
